Karate is a Japanese term which means "empty hand"  but is based on
traditional martial art weapons fighting systems designed for defense
against swords and other bladed weapons of the Samurai Warrior.
When the carry and use of martial art weapons was banned, people still
practised the forms using their hands, elbows, knees and feet as their weapons.
" My hand is my sword. "
The Alan LaCross Martial Arts Training Center teaches
traditional Tang Soo Do as it's format for belt advancement.
Tang Soo Do is considered a Korean martial art, like Tae Kwon Do,
with emphasis on a variaty of kicking techniques.
However, Tang Soo Do has it's origins in Chinese martial arts.
Training is intense physically, while inducing a state on mental
clarity. Martial arts training will help you get in shape, lose weight,
improve your  concentration, coordination and flexibility.
As your training progresses, you will experience a greater
sense of confidence, self esteem and inner peace.  Martial art
training is a great way to combat stress and depression,
as well as a proven tool for anger management.
The training includes not only the traditional techniques
required for advancement in Tang Soo Do, it also places
a great deal of emphasis on practical self defense against
single and multiple attackers as well as defense against
attackers with weapons (club, knife, gun).  We cover all
aspects of self defense, such as how to defend yourself
when you are taken down to the floor or ground, one of
the most  important aspects of your self defense arsenal.
Your training will be based on reality, effectivnes and the
personal "hands on" experience of your instructor.....
no "text book" self defense training!  Martial Art training
can affect a positive change in your life....
are you ready to make that change?
